BarkBox review March, 2017

BarkBox is a subscription that delivers a box of new dog toys and treats to your door every month!

The theme for the January box is “Sniffin’ Safari!”.

The Goods

  1. Nik Knacks Lamb Ears – Superior Farms. Regular price: $4.00

Superior Farms Nik Knacks Lamb Ears are wholesome chews dogs love. These ears are all natural and sourced from New Zealand and the United States. Each chew is responsibly sourced and is great for dogs that love to chew. Lamb Ears are not as greasy or hard as pig ears. Kona finished one ear about 7 minutes, he loved it! It’s hard to believe it’s an animals ear because it looks and feels just like rawhide. Anyways, Kona approved! PS- Do you guys like his hair cut?!

  1. Charlie’s Heart of Cheesiness Snacks with Cheddar – Bark & Co. Regular price: $8.00

Who can resist the cheesy goodness of real cheddar? Grain free and made in the USA, these soft treats are made without any of the gross preservatives, wacky colorings or weird fillers. You can feel good about giving your dog rich, creamy taste of 100% real cheese. Kona LoVeS these treats! Look at him licking his lips and going head-over-tail for them!

  1. Hangry Hangry Hippo – Bark & Co. Regular price: $12.00

With a belly full of squeaker ball, this Bark & Co original is noisy enough to entertain your dog for hours (and it won’t prey on your pup). It’s rope tail is great for a rousing game of tug-of-war or just some thrashing around your local watering hole. With a body that is velvety soft, this toy is perfect for cuddly pup, or ones who’d like to sink their teeth a humongous herbivore. Kona really enjoyed playing with this toy, he loves soft squeaky toys. Check him out.

  1. Chicken Semi-Moist Mini Trainers – Grumps Naturals. Regular price: $8.00

Crumps’ Naturals Mini Trainers are a small size, but have big taste. It is a semi-moist snack that is made into bite-size pieces that are great for snacking or use as a training aid. One taste of the mini trainers and your dog will be ready and willing to cooperate during sessions. Each piece is approximately 2.1 calories and is made in small batches to ensure freshness and high quality. Kona absolutely loved these! I forgot to snap a pic of him with them though.

  1. Reba’s Ready for Anything Vest – Bark & Co. Regular price: $8.00

This adventure vest toy is ready for anything (especially playtime). Preparation is the key to success; take it from Reba. With Reba’s Ready for Anything Vest on hand (or in mouth, rather), your pup will be equipped for tons of fun. This Bark & Co Original features crinkly sides that make a satisfying sound and pockets that house squeakers to surprise and delight your dog. Kona really enjoys crinkle toys AND squeaker toys so the combo was a hit!

The items in this month’s box are worth a total of $40.00. This subscription is 24.00/month for me with the 3 month option. The month-to-month price for Bark Box is $29.00, so I think it makes sense to buy 3 months and save $15.00. BarkBox always has high quality toys and treats, and never disappoints me. In my opinion, BarkBox is the best option for a dog subscription if you are interested in a dog subscription that has equal amounts of toys and treats. (Other boxes focus on one or the other).

This month was a good box. Kona loved every single item in the box, which is surprisingly rare because he can be picky, lol! He went crazy for the treats, devoured the lamb ear, and had a blast with his new toys!

ipsy review February, 2017

Ipsy is a subscription that delivers full and deluxe sized beauty products with a makeup bag to your door every month!

This month’s theme is “#IPSY MUCH LOVE.”

The Goods

  1. Butter Lipstick in Lifeguard – NYX. Regular price: $6.00

Treat your lips to a kiss of smooth, creamy color with irresistible Butter Lipstick. The formula’s delicate satin texture fused with highly saturated color delivers full-yet-lightweight coverage with a luxurious satin finish. This lipstick really does have a unique, velvety texture that I didn’t mind. Too bad I’d never wear this color, though!

  1. Volumelash Waterproof Mascara – BellaPierre Cosmetics. Regular price: $20.00

This mascara has a flexible brush that perfectly separates and coats every single lash, so your lashes are full and defined. This is removed easily with a makeup wipe even though it is waterproof, no tugging and rubbing required! I usually don’t like waterproof mascara because it is so hard to remove, but this mascara really did come off easily and I love how it made my lashes look. It isn’t clumpy and adds a ton of length and volume. Awesome!

  1. Luminude in Primrose – Seraphine Botanicals. Regular price: $24.00

A soft-touch skin luminizer made from cold-pressed Evening Primrose Oil that gives a youthful brilliance and glow to your complexion. I used this as highlighter on my chin, cheekbones, bridge of nose and middle of forehead and I love how it makes my skin glow. As you can see from the picture, when it’s on my face it just makes my skin glow and isn’t an obvious gold shimmer or anything, it has a natural, pretty look.

  1. Gentle Face Cleanser – BeFine Food Skin Care. Regular price: $7.05

BeFine’s formulas are completely vegan and packed with good-for-your skin superfoods and natural ingredients. Creamy coconut oil moisturizes, while tea tree and orange extract detox and balance out oil production. Jojoba beads buff away dead skin cells, leaving your skin glowing. This face wash has an awesome minty scent that makes my face feel extra fresh, it’s like brushing my teeth for my face haha.

  1. Rose Gold Blush Face Brush 514 – Luxie. Regular price: $18.00

Imitate the perfect glow on your cheeks with this Luxie blush brush. Made with cruelty-free synthetic bristles, this vegan brush achieves beauty inside and out. Fake a healthy flush with this must-have product in your beauty arsenal. This brush is super soft, it works good for highlighter and blush, only products that can be lightly dusted on. This definitely isn’t tough enough to use for powder or contour. It works great for my BellaPierre powder highlighter and Urban Decay blush.

This is just a classic denim with neon edging makeup bag, it’s kind of retro. Who knows what I’ll do with this, or the 500 other ipsy makeup bags I have, lol.

The products in the month’s box are worth $75.05! That’s more than 7x the $10.00/month cost of ipsy, so I’d say that’s an awesome value! Besides the lipstick, I’ll use everything in this month’s bag! I love the mascara and refreshing facewash. The illuminator works so good and gives such a cool, natural glow. The Luxie brush is perfect for dusting on loose powders… man I love ipsy! By far the best beauty subscription for the price.

Target Beauty Box review February, 2017

The Target Beauty Box is a one-time purchase seasonal box that includes deluxe sized samples and full sized beauty products available at Target.

This review is for the February Target Beauty Box.

The Goods

  1. Face Soap & Clarity Face Wash – Soap and Glory. Regular price: $1.10

Face Soap And Clarity 3-in-1 Daily Vitamin C Facial Wash smoothes and purifies for super clean, fresh and bright skin. With complexion-friendly, non-drying, easy-rinse ingredients including natural Superfruit Yuzu and Ultra-Soft Scrub-Beads, this high-tech foaming facial wash is a multi-tasking miracle. I’ve been using this for a week and my skin really does feel more smooth and bright, I love it.

  1. Ultimate Repair Shampoo and Conditioner – Gliss. Regular price: $1.40

This cleans and conditions while replacing lost keratin protein to restore strength and prevent further damage. This is a fine shampoo/condition combo, there are not any cons to it in my opinion but I don’t prefer this over what I already use.

  1. Coconut & Mango Body Wash – Raw Sugar. Regular price: $.60

Raw Sugar Raw Coconut + Mango Natural Body Wash is like a fresh tropical fruit smoothie for the skin. Made from a natural coconut and plant-based blend for pure skin nutrition and processed through ColdPress Technology® to lock in all the good oils, vitamins and enzymes that skin instantly soaks up – Raw Sugar Raw Coconut + Mango Natural Body Wash is free of any of the nasty stuff. The mango brightens and perks up your complexion while the raw coconut has soothing properties tired skin will really appreciate. I had high hopes for the scent based on the name but it’s very subtle. After using this I’d say it’s just an average body wash.

  1. Expressionist Mascara Mini – W3LL People. Regular price: $11.99

This boundary breaking formula creates big, bold fluffy lashes instantly. AND it nourishes thanks to a synergistic botanical blend. Hyper pure mineral pigments create the blackest of black for highly defined luxurious lashes. 100% cruelty-free, petroleum-free, paraben free, gluten-free, coal tar-free, aluminum-free, fiber-free, and clump-free! This mascara doesn’t clump and gives my lashes a natural, bit thicker and bit longer look. Using lash primer helps this go the extra mile, I really like the natural look of this though.

  1. Sunless Self-Tanning Towelette – Sun Bum. Regular price: $3.20

Sun Bum® Sunless Self Tanning Towelette 5 pk is a fast-absorbing wipe that can be used on the face and whole body. This self tanner gives you a healthy and natural color without the harmful effects of the sun. I love the coconut scent of this wipe! The difference is so subtle this would only make sense if a 5 pack cost $3, not $15. In pic, one leg used this and one didn’t so you can see the difference. As you can see it barely makes a difference.

  1. Hydrating Face Mask – Masque Bar. Regular price: $3.49

This hydrating face mask gently peels away impurities and dead skin cells while cucumber extract leaves your skin moisturizied, smooth and silky. I can’t believe this thing was even invented and being bought. Guaranteed any revenue they make is from first time buyers and when those run out, this product will be discontinued. Hydrating my ass! It dries and is SUPER painful to “peel” off I had to use so much water and it still hurt, left skin feeling dry and chapped lol I don’t understand how this is hydrating. This is the opposite of hydrating.

  1. Pure Clay Masks – L’Oreal Paris. Regular price: $5.99

There is 3 masks to sample here, Purify & Mattify, Detox & Brighten, and Exfoliate & Refine Pores. This trio of clay masks includes purifying eucalyptus, detoxifying charcoal and exfoliating red algae. They all left my skin soft, smooth and clean feeling.

The box also came with a coupon for $3.00 off any beauty products at Target.

The value of the products in this season’s box is about $27.77. ($30.77 with $3 coupon). Given the quality of the products and the $10.00 price tag of this box, I’d say this is a great value! I hope I can manage to get another Target Beauty Box in the future, so far I’ve gotten lucky twice, I have my fingers crossed for upcoming boxes!

This is the link to the Beauty Box, but I’m not sure when the next box will be released and this box is currently sold out. Good Luck!

The Goods

  1. Sparkling Calming Beverage in Tropical – Just Chill. Regular price: $2.10

Just Chill Tropical calming beverage has peach, mango, and orange flavors and is enhanced with L-Theanine. L-Theanine is a “nootropic” that promotes a calm and focused mindset. I take L-theanine supplements with Alpha GPC already because it really does give me a focused calm throughout the day and helps with anxiety. The taste is light and refreshing, I actually enjoyed it. I can’t speak for the effects as I already take theanine, but based on Amazon reviews it seems most people do notice a calming, relaxed feel from it.

  1. Natural Toothpaste – Jack N’ Jill. Regular price: $6.99

First thing I noticed about this toothpaste is that it is fluoride free, the best kind! For all you fluoride believers, enjoy that calcified third eye. If you are confused by that statement, that’s because you use fluoride. Haha! This toothpaste has Certified Organic Blackcurrant is rich in Xylitol and Organic Calendula to soothe gums. It is fluoride free, sugar free, color free, SLS free, and contains no preservatives. This toothpaste tastes great, but I’m pretty sure it’s for toddlers (gum soothing), so I’ll give it to my sisters kids.

  1. Spearmint Gum – XyliChew. Regular price: $1.89

This gum is GMO free with no artificial flavors. It’s also artificial sweetener, sugar, and gluten free and vegan. It is sweetened with Birch Xylitol extracted from US forests. Xylitol helps slow the rate and amount of acid production in the mouth, reducing the acid-producing bacteria that erode teeth enamel. The spearmint flavor is tasty, I’ve been chewing this since the box came!

  1. Daily Greens Chocolate Powder – Aloha. Regular price: $2.38

Aloha Daily Good Greens Chocolate Blend is an all-natural whole-foods powder that builds the bridge between what you should eat and what you actually eat. With 14 organically grown and wild-harvested whole foods, being healthy on-the-go has never been easier! Moringa, spirulina, wild blueberries from Alaska are just a few of the ingredients. It can be exhausting, not to mention costly, trying to get high quality superfoods that your body needs daily. Aloha makes it easy and simple to get what you need (and more), all in one convenient pouch. One pack equals 2 servings of fruits and veggies, and is only 45 calories. This product was hard to mix (lots of clumps) in water and tasted earthy… not terrible but if it didn’t have all of the benefits I wouldn’t just drink it for fun.

  1. Snoozeberry Sleep Powder – Dream Water. Regular price: $1.50

Dream Water promotes restful sleep and can be taken with hot water, cold water or straight out of the packet. The ingredients that promote sleep are Melatonin, 5-HTP, and GABA. GABA reduces anxiety and promotes relaxation, melatonin helps induce sleep by governing the body’s internal clock, and 5-HTP helps improve sleep quality by stimulating the production of melatonin. This tastes like a pixie stick but does not have sugar and actually had me asleep in 15 minutes, awesome! Also, I’m very interested in dreaming and finding ways to increase vivid dreams, and GABA is a major dream enhancer so drink this if you want to get a good nights sleep and CRAZY dreams.

  1. All Natural Laundry Soda – Nellie’s. Regular price: $1.50

The scent of clean laundry you’re used to may be caused by nasty chemicals (what’s the deal with that?!)  So why not discover the true smell of naturally clean clothes with Nellie’s Laundry Soda?  It’s hypoallergenic, and leaves your clothes soft, fresh, and residue free.  It’s also super-duper concentrated, so only one tablespoon per wash is needed, even in large loads. This laundry soap works fine but I’m a Tide user for life. With downy. I’m all about that scent, so scentless detergent isn’t appealing for my tastes.

  1. Butter Coffee – Coffee Blocks. Regular price: $2.95

Putting healthy fats in your cup of joe will turn it into super brain fuel. It’ll give you a boost of energy, make you laser focused, and can even help you feel full until lunch. Plus, you won’t feel the mid-morning “crash” you’d get from eating a carb-filled breakfast. When you first wake up, your body has been in fat burning mode all night. Keep the fat burning going with a morning dose of healthy fats… and coffee! Product sounded great until I tasted it, unfortunately I couldn’t get it down to experience any of the claimed benefits lol.

  1. Cracked Pepper Beef & Pork Stick – Vermont Smoke & Cure. Regular price: $.85

Vermont Smoke & Cure has been consciously crafting delicious meat snacks since 1962. Utilizing certified humanely raised meats, they make some of the finest smoked meats in the world. Vermont Smoke & Cure’s original recipes haven’t changed much in over 50 years. Gluten-free, without antibiotics or added hormones, Vermont Smoke & Cure sticks are perfect on-the-go snacks. This was tasty – pepper and garlicy deliciousness! Too bad it was so small.

  1. Coast Trail Mix – Gorilly Goods. Regular price: $2.39

This little pouch of goodness is not only super tasty, it is organic, gluten free and vegan. Gorilly Goods are dehydrated and crunchy so they will last a long time. This is made with raisins and cashews so I expected something sweet. But to my surprise it was a strange taste, apparently, it is flavored with cayenne pepper. Interesting.

  1. Simply Sea Salt Popcorn – Gary Poppins. Regular price: $1.00

A light and flavorful touch of sea salt is the perfect addition for those looking to experience popcorn in a whole new way. This popcorn tasted good to me. Like lightly salted popcorn. I cheated and put some cheesy popcorn flavoring on mine because I’m always cheating…

  1. Raspberry Fig Bar – Natures Bakery. Regular price: $.75

Nature’s Bakery’s goal is simple. They want to give you the fuel you need to help power life’s great journeys. Oh yeah, and to make it—and your journeys—jam-packed with flavor. With Mother Nature’s blessing, they’ve created perfect harmony among some of her very best handiwork, holding freshness ever sacred. Enjoy Nature’s Bakery Raspberry Stone Ground Whole Wheat Fig Bar. This bar is kosher, cholesterol free, dairy free and non-GMO. My favorite snack in the box by far, this fig bar is delicious!!

The value of the items in this months box is $24.30… which is pretty great considering the box is FREE! The premise of this box reminds me of Influenster, but I prefer Daily Goodie Box because you don’t have to work for it. With Influenster I have to work to get a box, like doing reviews, posting pictures, tagging Every Single thing I get on Instagram, and a bunch more rules in order to get credit and a chance at another box. Daily Goodie box is less work, they still want you to review but I can handle that since I am a reviewer and all, haha.

Little Lace Box single month review February, 2017 (+ $20.00 off!)

Little Lace Box is a bi-monthly lifestyle subscription box for women. Each box is curated around a specific theme.

I bought a single box instead of subscribing, and there was no theme card in the box and based off my searches of past boxes, this box has items from all different months in one.

The Goods

  1. Canvas Travel Laundry Bag- Vine Street Market USA. Regular price: $29.00

With a fun design and a neutral palate, this bag makes it convenient and easy to throw in the dirty laundry from a weekend trip or a work week away. Before now I’ve always brought a garbage bag on vacations to throw my dirty clothes in, and this bag actually makes a lot of sense to me. I’m glad I’ll have this now to throw my laundry in, it’s more practical and much less messy looking haha.

  1. I am Beautiful Ruby Red Lip Gloss – Lucy B’s. Regular price: $18.00

Ruby Red tinted lip gloss is the most perfect sheer red color, when applied its much more sheer than appears in it’s tube. It looks like a red stain once applied to the lips. It works great over a lip pencil or lipstick or on its own. It’s made with coconut oil and natural minerals. Infused with Lucy B’s signature confidence enhancing flower essences which can help boost your mood. Each box and gloss contain inspirational quotes to make you smile. Mine says, “I am. Beautiful.”. I’m not much for red, but this looks good if I apply it over pink lipstick to neutralize the color a bit. I like the feel of this gloss, it feels moisturizing unlike most glosses which feel sticky.

  1. Tibetan Goji Berry Anti-Aging Serum – Passport to Beauty. Regular price: $88.00

For centuries women in Tibet have looked to the Goji Berry as a powerful health tonic and ‘beauty food,’ thought to promote a smooth, clear and youthful complexion. Goji Berries are rich in essential vitamins and minerals which help fight off free radicals and increase production of elastin and collagen, minimizing fine lines and keeping the skin firm and supple. This serum has my #1 fav ingredient for anti-aging products, sodium hyaluronate as the SIXTH ingredient. This is the highest up I’ve ever seen it on an ingredient list so double bonus! When a product advertises hyaluronic acid, ALWAYS check the ingredients to make sure it’s in sodium hyaluronate form, because regular hyaluronic acid’s molecules are too large to penetrate the skin. The sodium form is the salt of hyaluronic acid and the molecules are small enough to penetrate the skin and deliver incredible moisture and wrinkle reducing plumpage, due to it’s unique ability to hold 1000x its weight in water. With other ingredients like retinol, matrixyl 3000, vitamin C, and sepilift, this serum has the best and highest quality anti-aging ingredients available on the market today. I actually kind of understand the $88 price tag for such a tiny amount. I wish I could afford to keep using this forever!

  1. Pink Arrow Flat Note – P Press Papers. Regular price: $10.00

These flat notes are 4.25” x 5.5” and come with KRAFT envelopes. There was 8 note cards and envelopes in this box. The front side of the card is blank white with a pink arrow at the bottom, and the back side of the card has a pink and white pattern.  Since these are blank I can use them for anything, I’ll probably use them as cards for girl friend’s birthdays and thank you notes. Very cute!

  1. Precious 24k Gold Exfoliating Body Scrub – BellaPierre. Regular price: $80.00

Bellapierre PRECIOUS 24k Gold Exfoliating Body Scrub is an invigorating blend of high quality sea salt, 24-karat gold, and sumptuous oils that group to gently exfoliate and moisturize the outer layer of the skin. Reveal irresistibly soft and luminous skin after each use. I love exfoliating scrubs, and this one is great because it’s very gritty and really scrubs off any dead skin, leaving my skin soft and smooth. I don’t understand the point of 24k gold in a body scrub except to say “I’m rich, my body scrub has flakes of gold!” Lol. Since I’d never spend this much on this type of product normally, it’s nice to get in box and be able to enjoy it while it lasts.

  1. Ivory Quarter Socks – Boot Cuffs & Socks. Regular price: $6.99

The Ivory Quarter Socks give just enough pizazz to your outfit this season. Made with a blend of cozy materials, they are sure to keep your feet happy and warm all day long. These socks are super comfortable and I love how cute they look with boots, it’s like an effortless outfit upgrade. Love it!

The value of the items in this months box comes to $231.99! The subscription is $49.99 bi-monthly or $59.99 for a one time box.  I used a code to get the one time $20 off so this box cost me $39.99. (You can get the same deal, listed below). The value is INSANE! The only box I can think of to compare this to is the PopSugar Must Have, and that box had a comparable value to this one maybe once out of the 8 or so months I was subscribed. If you can afford to spend a little more for a monthly box, Little Lace Box by FAR has the best value and highest quality products I’ve seen in a box.

NatureBox review February, 2017 (+ First Box FREE!)

NatureBox is a monthly snack subscription that delivers 5 full size bags of treats to your door every month!

All their snacks are less than 200 calories and made with all natural ingredients, with no MSG’s or high fructose corn syrup.

The Goods

  1. Crème Brulee Peanuts. Regular price: $4.99

Creme Brulee Peanuts snacks are gently roasted Virginia peanuts coated with crisp sugar to create a crunchy shell. This was my second favorite snack in this month’s box, they’re SOO amazingly good! My favorite kind of peanuts are the crunchy toffee coated ones, and these totally reminded me of those but even better, yummy! I make sure to add these to every box I get, unless they are sold out.

  1. Crispy Snickerdoodles – NatureBox. Regular price: $3.79

Delicious cinnamon-sugar flavor, baked to a crispy perfection you won’t find anywhere else. Made with simple, easy to understand ingredients, like the whole-wheat flour, butter, sugar, and whole eggs. Plus, they’re a good source of fiber and 140 calories per serving. WOW these are SO amazing!!! By far my favorite snack I’ve ever received from NatureBox. I can’t stop eating them, so at least this is healthier than scarfing down regular snickerdoodles, lol. I love crispiness in general (I’m an ‘edge of the brownie’ type), so to have my favorite cookie in a delicious bite sized, crunchy style makes my day. Woohoo!

  1. Chocolate Chia Granola – NatureBox. Regular price: $4.29

This is not the kind of chia that will grow grass on a decorative potted tabby cat plant. But it is a superfood that will give you an extra boost of protein, fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants…all of which you need to keep your body running smoothly. I ate mine like cereal, and it tastes like Cocoa Puffs and Cocoa Crispies had a healthy baby, haha! I finished the entire bag in 2 bowls back-to-back, though. Don’t expect these to last long if you request them in your box lol.

  1. Mini Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies – NatureBox. Regular price: $3.79

Two classic cookie flavors, peanut butter and oatmeal, come together and the result is delicious. Combining simple, easy to understand ingredients, like flour, butter, sugar, eggs with a unique blend of spices and a dash of nostalgia. It’s your childhood favorites in a crunchy, bite-sized cookie that’ll give grandma’s recipe a run for its money. These cookies are pretty tasty, very nutty. These are the only thing in my box I’ve been able to make last (I can actually eat 5 or 6 and walk away). So that’s nice!

  1. Chocolate Hazelnut Granola – NatureBox. Regular price: $4.29

It’s not just for breakfast anymore! This delicious, indulgent, chocolatey granola tastes like your favorite cocoa-hazelnut spread, and pairs perfectly with vanilla, coffee, or sea salt caramel ice cream. Look out we’ve got breakfast and dessert covered in a single snack! I ate this like cereal and it was very unique with the chocolate chunks and seriously amazing! It tastes like Nutella and Special K Granola combined in to one amazing cereal. Yummy!

NatureBox is $19.95 per month if you are paying monthly, and I came up with a value of $21.15 for the items in this month’s box. This is about average for food subscriptions; the actual value is usually a lot closer to the box cost than with beauty or lifestyle boxes.  So all in all, if you love healthy snacks, this is the box for you. I like NatureBox because I know any snacks I get from them will be made with all natural ingredients and no artificial flavors, corn syrup, MSG or hydrogenated oils. It feels good knowing my snacks are healthy and less than 200 calories.

Also, now that I’ve gotten a feel for what I like and don’t like, I edit my pantry to include only snacks I LOVE. Being able to pick which snacks I get is great, and if they’re out of something it will show that on the website so I can make sure I replace the sold-out snack with something else I want, so each month I get the 5 best snacks for ME. I get so happy when my box arrives because these snacks are so freaking delicious, the whole box is gone within a week!

The Goods

  1. Freematic Eye Shadow – Doucce. Regular price: $35.00

A special edition palette of four silky eye shadows that are the building blocks for the ultimate smoky eye.  It’s true, these are really the four best colors I can imagine for a beautiful smoky eye look, the plum, white, grey, and black match everything and are literally my four favorite eye shadow shades magically in one palette, lol. I was surprised at how much I had to build this shadow to get a good pigment, considering it is a $35 palette, it’s nowhere near Too Faced as far as instant deep pigmentation goes. But it is worth the building in the end, it really does look great once the look is complete.

  1. Pronto Dry Shampoo Invisible Spray – Oscar Blandi. Regular price: $11.00

Oscar Blandi’s Pronto Dry Shampoo Invisible Spray revives dirty hair with a totally transparent, lightweight formula—making it great for hair of any color. Plus, it leaves strands smelling first day-fresh, thanks to its zesty lemon verbena scent. I was so happy when I saw this, this may sound weird but dry shampoo is my absolute favorite beauty product to get in a subscription box, lol. Probably because I wash my hair as LITTLE as possible so I’m always on the lookout for the best dry shampoo. Unfortunately, this specific one isn’t going to become my go-to. The reason for this is that even when used exactly as directed, this leaves a white dandruff-looking residue ALL throughout my hair, and no matter how much a try to brush and comb it out I can’t get it all. Yesterday my boyfriend looked at my hair in line at Walmart and goes, “Eww, what’s wrong with your head?” Yeah. So… no.

  1. E70 Medium Angled Shading Brush – Sigma. Regular price: $16.00

This is a synthetic, cruelty-free brush that sweeps powder eye shadow on to the lids and blends it into the creases for professional-level smoky eyes. I love makeup brushes and use them for everything (foundation, powder, shadow, concealer), but for smaller eye shadow brushes I prefer brushes that are more firm and dense than this one. The soft bristles just don’t have the preciseness that’s necessary for eye shadow, in my opinion. It works fine for dusting on highlighter in the smaller areas (bridge of nose, above top lip, under eyebrows), though.

  1. Microdermabrasion Facial Exfoliator – Dr. Brandt. Regular price: $9.90

Get a youthful glow with this microdermabrasion solution. This formula contains aluminum oxide crystals, lactic acid, and soothing botanicals to polish away dead skin cells, provide a radiant, healthy look, and smooth skin’s texture. Watch as the appearance of fine lines, acne marks, and skin discolorations diminish for maximum results in minimal time. This facial exfoliator works great, especially with a rotating cleansing brush. I’ll absolutely use this until it’s gone, and enjoy it while it lasts because a full sized bottle is $79, so I won’t be buying my own lol.

  1. Lipstick in Blush Basin – Burt’s Bees. Regular price: $8.99

A full coverage lip color with 8 hours of moisturization. The Blush Basin shade has a warm, reddish pink hue with just the right amount of lip color to enhance your dry lips while keeping them nourished and hydrated. This lipstick has a moisturizing, creamy texture that adds a vibrant shade with a smooth, satin finish. I LOVE Burt’s Bees, I always have their lip balm with me, and I also like their lip shimmer and body products. I knew I’d like this lipstick, and it did not disappoint! This is the most soft and moisturizing lipstick I’ve ever tried, and the pigment is great as well. Woohoo!

  1. Botanic Fiber Beauty Mask in #beautysecret – Biobelle. Regular price: $4.99

Biobelle’s Firming sheet mask with Hyaluronic Acid & Pomegranate is unique with the use of TENCEL, an all-natural and biodegradable fiber that adheres perfectly to every facial contour, like a second skin and delivers the serum like no other mask. Biobelle’s serum is infused with proven, naturally derived substances, essential oils and gentle preservatives, with visible effects after just the first use. This mask has my #1 fav ingredient for anti-aging products, sodium hyaluronate. When a product advertises hyaluronic acid, ALWAYS check the ingredients to make sure it’s in sodium hyaluronate form, because regular hyaluronic acid’s molecules are too large to penetrate the skin. The sodium form is the salt of hyaluronic acid and the molecules are small enough to penetrate the skin and deliver incredible moisture and wrinkle reducing plumpage, due to it’s unique ability to hold 1000x it’s weight in water. This mask felt SO good to use and left my skin plump and moisturized, and super soft. Love it.

The total value of the products in this month’s box is $85.88! The Allure Beauty Box costs $15.00/month, so this is an AWESOME value. This box is special to me because the products are always the BEST of the best, high end beauty products. I can’t afford to spend a ton of money on expensive skincare/hair care/makeup products, so it’s really nice to get to try all these great products. I usually won’t spend more than $10 for makeup and skincare boxes, but I’m making an exception for the Allure Beauty Box!

Birchbox review January, 2017 + FIRST BOX $5!

They have a beauty profile for you to fill out on their site, and choose products for you specifically based off your answers.

The Goods

  1. Protect & Oil – Beauty Protector. Regular price: $2.15

This multitasking oil defends against UV rays and breakage (without greasy residue). Apply to dry hair for a lightweight shine or work through ends to protect from heat and damage. This is the first hair oil I’ve tried that is applied to dry hair (mine always say wet hair), and I was suspicious this would leave a residue. Surprisingly though, it completely absorbed and left my hair feeling soft and clean, success!

  1. Skinny Liquid Eyeliner – Eyeko. Regular price: $10.30

From the go-to UK makeup brand, this user-friendly liquid liner goes on velvety smooth and features a pen-style applicator to control the thickness of your eyeliner look. I got Eyeko “eye do” eyeliner in an Allure box once that I loved, and this “skinny” Eyeko liner is identical in terms of color and shape of tip, like I’m pretty sure they are the same thing lol. Luckily though I love this eyeliner, it makes drawing cat eyes a breeze!

  1. Candlenut Body Crème – Juara. Regular price: $1.60

This velvety candlenut oil formula, inspired by Balinese recipes, penetrates deep into dry, rough skin for instant, nongreasy softness that lasts. This body crème smells amazing, light and fresh. It absorbed completely into my skin and left it feeling as soft as silk! I just wish the sample was bigger.

  1. Prep-N-Glow Cloths – NuFace. Regular price: $1.00

These double-sided wipes clean, exfoliate, and hydrate. The soft lace cotton side removes makeup while the other gently exfoliates with microdots to reveal glowy skin. I used this to remove my makeup before I went tanning, and one wipe completely cleaned all of my makeup off, with the exfoliating side clearing out any dead skin for fresh tan-ready skin. It left my face smooth and moisturized, which is important when I’m drying out my skin tanning.

  1. BrightenUp! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator – Vasanti. Regular price: $5.65

Papaya enzymes work to break down dead cells and even out skin tone while dermatologist-approved microderm crystals fade fine lines and acne scars. Finally, aloe vera, coconut, and vitamins B and E nourish freshly exfoliated skin to keep it free from redness or irritation, making it look like you just got a facial. This felt nice to use in the shower, the exfoliation was gentle and could be used even on sensitive skin, unlike some rougher cleansers. Yet it still effectively removed any dead skin cells and left my skin soft and smooth.

The products in this months box are worth about $20.07. This isn’t bad for a $10.00/mo subscription! If you love high quality skincare products, Birchbox is definitely the box for you!  I am happy with this months box, I love the eyeliner and face cleanser, and I’m definitely buying more of the prep-n-glow cloths!

BarkBox review January, 2017

BarkBox is a subscription that delivers a box of new dog toys and treats to your door every month!

The theme for the January box is “Pup in the Air!”

The Goods

  1. Buffalo Chew – Etta Says! Regular price: $3.00

These chews have 4 simple ingredients, the first 2 of which are rawhide and buffalo. They have no artificial flavors, coloring or preservatives and are made in the USA. Kona loved his buffalo chew, it only lasted about 5 minutes!

  1. Chic Snaps Mini Trainers – Crumps Naturals. Regular price: $8.00

These natural training treats snap apart so you can get the size you need. These are made with all natural ingredients and no soy, wheat, or corn. Prepared in small batches to ensure freshness. Kona gobbled these right up! See him rolling over for them :).

  1. Hugo’s Jumbo Jet – Bark & Co. Regular price: $10.00

From the wings to the tail, all the parts on this stuffed dog toy are great for gripping, biting and shaking. That is, before the whole thing’s totally shredded from one too many crash landings on Sharp Tooth Mountain! The fabric’s melty soft feel makes this guy cuddle-worthy, too. You know, for when your pup undoubtedly dreams of steaks on a plane. This had all the perks Kona loves in a toy… soft, furry, and squeaky! He wore me out playing fetch-tug-of-war-tag with this toy.

  1. Jet Pack Treats – Bocce’s Bakery. Regular price: $8.00

For a good dog that works hard for the treats, these biscuits are made with yummy all-natural turkey and cheddar cheese. They’re preservative and chemical free and made in the USA. These snacks are already packed and ready to go wherever you and pup are headed. Kona prefers chewy treats, he’s not as much of a fan of the “biscuit” variety. He still ate these though, just not with the usual intensity he has when getting treats, haha!

  1. Duffel Bag – Bark & Co. Regular price: $12.00

This duffel bag’s got everything your dog needs for an adventure: a tough nylon shell, fun thrashin’ straps, and two surprises packed inside. Meet your dog’s new favorite carry-on. Even if the duffel bag gets destroyed (TSA is BRUTAL), your dog keeps the good times growling with two tennis balls inside. Three toys in one! Kona did Not like this toy unfortunately. I couldn’t even get him to touch it for a picture… he wouldn’t even go after it after the first time he heard it hit the wall because the noise made it sound hard and heavy, I think he was scared of it.

The items in this month’s box are worth a total of $41.00.

Kona really liked everything except for the duffel toy. He loves the break-apart treats and airplane toy!

Harrison Blake Monthly Subscription review January, 2017 (+ $15 OFF!)

The Harrison Blake Monthly Subscription is a subscription that delivers 1 necktie and 4 additional accessories, such as pocket squares, lapel pins, tie bars and more every month. Each of the items will be exclusive and hand selected, and be completely coordinated to make it easy to dress to impress.

This review is for the January Harrison Blake subscription.

The Goods

  1. Harrison Blake Winter Beanie. Regular price: $25.00

This beanie was exclusive to the January box and not sold on the website. It is so so soft and warm, I love it! My boyfriend doesn’t like his hair getting messed up before work, so this is mine in the mornings and his in the afternoons, haha. The design is classy and smooth, a perfect winter beanie.

  1. Harrison Blake Cotton Pocket Square. Regular price: $20.00

Oh, pocket squares… such a strange accessory you are. I found a cool way to fold it through trial and error, and I’m going to properly place it in my boyfriend’s suit next time he wears one. He only has to wear suits on days he has client meetings. On those days, I pick out his clothes, tie his tie, and now fold his pocket square LOL.

  1. Harrison Blake Block Pattern Necktie. Regular price: $25.00

This tie is simple and elegant, with a block/checkerboard pattern. It would go great with a blue or gray suit. I already pre-tied the Windsor knot just in case my boyfriend ever has to get ready without me. Not only can he not tie a tie, when he saw the pocket square he said “what is that thing?” then pointed to the tie bar and said “and what is that?”. Seriously, he would be so lost without me.

  1. Harrison Blake Navy Blue Tie Bar. Regular price: $15.00

A plain tie bar that can conform to any dark blue ties without drawing attention. This is perfect for his work environment, it is a professional atmosphere that probably wouldn’t appreciate the funky tie bars that are shaped like random objects. I tried explaining what the purpose of a tie bar is to my boyfriend and I’m pretty sure he still doesn’t grasp the concept.

  1. Soapstone Whiskey Rocks. Regular price: $8.00

Ohh I love these! We are a huge fan of no-water ice in this house, so these stones are now added to our collection in the freezer. We both hate when ice melts and waters down our drinks and these stones and cubes are the perfect solution. Plus they’re always a fun conversation piece with guests.

The value of the items in this month’s box is $93.00. For a $25.00/mo subscription, that is an awesome value! Everything in this month’s box was high quality and classy, and it will all be put to use. This box also reminded me of how little my boyfriend knows about fashion, haha! If you are a man with a professional career, or just like to look dapper on occasion, this box is perfect for you. Also, if you are a girl who wants to surprise your boyfriend or husband and help his fashion sense at the same time, this is the way! I enjoy keeping my boyfriend looking nice and teaching him about men’s fashion.

Sign up for Harrison Blake today and use code SEASON for $15.00 off your first box! That’s FIVE high quality fashion accessories for only $10!
