The Goods

  1. Daily Super Spice Shot – Pranayums. Regular price: $1.42

img_8498

For centuries, ayurvedics have routinely incorporated a select group of spices into their diets that provide the foundation of a vigorous life – we call them Super Spices. These nutritional powerhouses elevate the flavor of everyday foods without adding fat or sugar. These super spices support your immune system and digestive health, comfort cold and allergy symptoms, and support overall excellent health. I happen to have bronchitis, so I added a spice packet to hot water and drank it… it wasn’t bad either, I kind of liked the cinnamon spiciness. As luck would have it, I felt way better the next day, and I’d been hacking up my lungs for a week. Maybe the medicine finally started to work.. maybe it was the spices. Who knows?

  1. Harmonious Blend Bar – Curate Nutrition. Regular price: $1.50

img_8503

These chewy bars are non-GMO, gluten free, all natural with 6 grams of protein. They are soy free and are flavored with a combination of almond, apricot, and honey. I’m on the fence with these… it’s great that they’re super healthy and all, but the taste was kind of funky. The lemon is one of the last ingredients but somehow the main thing I could taste as I ate it and it was unexpected in a granola bar. I finished it, though.

  1. Strawberry Burst Rice Protein Powder – Growing Naturals. Regular price: $2.65

img_8511

Growing Naturals has harvested the secret of allergen-friendly whole grain brown rice, unleashing all its amazing possibilities, lifelong nutrition, easy applications and natural flavor. Growing Naturals’ rice protein supplies all the daily essential amino acids our bodies require but may not be getting from whole foods. It’s the only rice protein to utilize a 90% protein (isolate), thanks to a proprietary chemical-free, raw, sprouted process that extracts the naturally occurring plant protein. The result is a complete protein with desired bioavailability, digestibility and satiety but none on the allergens and cholesterol plus less sodium than often found in whey. I had to chug this while not breathing through my nose so I could get past the taste, I’ve never been a fan of protein powder tastes, though. I was impressed with all the health benefits though which is why I finished mine.

  1. Sriracha Rice Chips – Lundberg Family Farms. Regular price: $.95

img_8514

Since 1937, the Lundberg family has been dedicated to caring for the land responsibly and sustainably. Organic farming methods produce healthful, delicious rice while respecting and protecting the earth for future generations. Today, the spirit of environmental stewardship at Lundberg Family Farms continues to grow with every grain of rice. Enjoy the bold, fiery taste of hot Sriracha sauce with the delicious crunch of brown rice! Made in the USA with organic grains, these chips are vegan, non-GMO, wheat and gluten-free. I liked these chips a lot! Super crunchy, spicy and flavorful. I wish the bag was bigger!

  1. Anti-Itch Soothing Cream – Natralia. Regular price: $4.33

A balanced blend of colloidal oatmeal, canadian willowherb & menthol to soothe and relieve itchy skin. Free from sulfates, parabens, synthetics and artificial colours and fragrances. Australian made and owned. No animal testing. Clinically tested. I do not currently have any itchy or irritated areas of skin to try this out on, but any reviews I could find online were extremely positive so I’m sure it’s great, haha!

  1. Sea Salt Baked Crisps – ProTings. Regular price: $2.30

img_8521

ProTings is a healthy protein-packed snack catering to health-conscious individuals looking to rethink the way they snack! Each bag has 15 grams of protein. Whether you’re counting your calories or carbs (only 120 calories and 4 grams of net carbs per bag), following a special diet (gluten-free, vegan, soy-free, Kosher) or simply want a snack that doesn’t have any genetically modified ingredients (Non-GMO), ProTings are for you! These were very bland, and tasted like a non-flavored protein powder hardened into a chip shape. If that makes any sense… I threw them away.

  1. Crunchy Sunflower Seed Bites – Somersaults. Regular price: $.65

img_8523

These bites are sea salt flavored and all natural. With 6 g of protein, 3 g of fiber, and packed with Vitamin E, these nut-free snacks are sure to twirl your taste buds! These have as much protein as almonds with half the fat, and are made with non-GMO ingredients. Once I got over the fact that even though these looked like cookies, they were definitely not cookies… I ended up enjoying these. Crunchy, salty goodness. If you like sunflower seeds, you’ll love these!

  1. Morning Glory and Sweet Treat Tea – Tea Pigs. Regular price: $1.33

img_8524

Sweet Treat Liquorice and Peppermint – One of our best sellers, this little combo has hit the spot with lots of you. We use the natural root of the liquorice plant (not the black sticky stuff you’re thinking of!) and have blended it with our pure peppermint leaves to create a naturally sweet and refreshing drink that is irresistibly moreish. Not sure what moreish means, but this tea reminded me of Christmas morning, maybe because the peppermint reminds me of candy canes. Anyways, with a bit of honey this was a tasty treat indeed!

Morning Glory English Breakfast – This is our signature blend – our daily cuppa, our builders brew, our Rosy Lee. Call it what you want but our everyday brew is the ultimate British favourite.  We’ve blended three top quality whole leaf black teas – Assam, Ceylon and a lovely Rwandan – to give a balanced, malty, zesty alliance and the most perfect cup of tea. I’ve never been a fan of regular teas that don’t have recognizable flavors (fruits, candy, spices), so I can live without this tea. I’m sure it’s great if you’re a fan of just tea tea, lol.

  1. Apple Cinnamon Super Oats – Love Grown. Regular price: $.90

img_8525

Love Grown’s Super Oats are made with the power blend of gluten-free oats, chia seeds, quinoa flakes, and amaranth flakes. With their amazing texture and protein, Super Oats are a great way to power your day. Love Grown creates super delicious foods, powered by nutrition that even the pickiest kids will love.  I made oatmeal with this, and it was freaking amazing!! These was so much flavor, texture, and deliciousness… I wish I had a whole box! I’ll have to buy one ASAP. Plus the fact that this oatmeal includes quinoa and chia AND tastes great is an added bonus. An all-around good and good for you treat.

Value

The total value for the items in this box is about $16.03. This Bestowed box costs $20/month if you pay monthly. When the value of the products in the box are worth more than or equal to the price of the box, that’s OK with me for food subscription boxes. But I really can’t justify paying for a box that is valued at less than it costs. This is the second Bestowed box I’ve tried, and both were valued at around $16. So I won’t stay subscribed to this one. If you just want the experience of trying new healthy snacks and are not so much worried about price, this may be for you.
