The Honest Co. is a subscription box co-founded by Jessica Alba that offers 4 “bundles” to choose from, which are Diaper & Wipes Bundle, Honest Essentials Bundle (personal care & home cleaning), Health & Wellness Bundle (vitamins), and Organic Infant Formula Bundle. The products are all eco-friendly, whether it be organic, all natural or recycled products.
This review is for the Free Trial Essentials Bundle.
- Organic Healing Balm – The Honest Co. Sample price: $3.25
This all organic and non-toxic salve helps soothe and support dry, chaffed or sensitive skin. It is made with a combination of organic oils (sunflower, olive, coconut), extracts (chamomile and calendula), and bees wax. This hypoallergenic formula is safe for the whole family. This was surprisingly oily, but I guess I was thinking it would be more lotion like. Instead of using this on my hands (which makes everything slippery), I’ve found it works great on my heels to keep them soft and moisturized.
- Face + Body Lotion – The Honest Co. Sample price: $.90
This lotion helps hydrate and moisturize skin without a greasy feeling. Enriching extracts and oils balanced with organic botanicals leaves skin feeling touchably soft and smooth. Chamomile, calendula, and aloe help calm and soothe, and organic olive, shea, and jojoba oils help nourish and moisturize. This lotion absorbs quickly and kept my hands feeling soft for most of the day.
- Shampoo + Body Wash – The Honest Co. Sample price: $.75
This shampoo and body wash is designed to gently cleanse the entire body from head to toe. Enriching oils and extracts balanced with organic botanicals leave skin and hair feeling soft and smooth. Aloe, chamomile, and calendula help gently soothe and nourish, while coconut oil, jojoba protein, and quinoa extract help moisturize and soften skin. I got the sweet orange vanilla, and it smells wonderful, like a dreamsicle! I didn’t notice a difference in my hair, but I love a good smelling body wash, especially when it nourishes and hydrates my skin at the same time.
- Hand Soap – The Honest Co. Sample price: $.90
Naturally refresh and cleanse your hands with pure plant-based ingredients — perfect hand soap for the whole family! Rich and creamy lather infused with botanicals and essential oils to help clean and soften hands. This soft lather gently removes dirt and grime and easily rinses away without drying skin; leaving behind nothing but honestly clean delight! My sample is lavender, which is one of my favorite scents so I love smelling it while I wash my hands. Also, I can’t stand when hand soaps don’t lather up nicely, and this hand soap lathers up perfectly and feels great.
- Multi-Surface Cleaner – The Honest Co. Sample price: $.25
Advanced plant-based surface cleaner tackles dirt, grease, and grime anywhere, anytime! Super versatile and ultra-effective, this all-purpose cleaner leaves nothing behind but the fresh smell of grapefruit. Effectively penetrate and emulsify dirt, grease, oil, grime, and tiny fingerprints. This works on kitchen countertops, high chairs, toys, walls, hardwood floors, painted surfaces, furniture, inside ovens, laminate, porcelain, granite, bathroom fixtures, wood, sealed stone, electronics, grills, decks, and more! I tried it out on my kitchen counters, and any sticky substances or old sauce drippings wiped away easily.
The total value of the items in this month’s box is $6.05. I got the Free Trial Essentials Bundle, and only had to pay $5.95 for shipping. So… this was not the best value in the world, but I guess the point is to sample some products to see if you like them before signing up for the full-sized bundles. The full sized essentials bundle is $35.95/month + $5.95 S&H, with your choice of 5 products to include. I liked the products, but decided to cancel since I’m on a budget.
