The Goods

  1. Supermud Clearing Treatment – GLAMGLOW. Regular price: $17.25

This formula was clinically developed by GLAMGLOW dermatological chemists to help fight all common skin concerns including breakouts, discoloration, black and white heads, razor bumps, and in-grown hair. Powerful, skin-clearing mud visibly draws out dirt and congestion while a proprietary six-acid blend dramatically brightens and softens skin. It works to draw out dirt and pores with activated-X charcoal, leaving skin smooth and healthy-looking.

This treatment costs $69.00 for a 1.2 oz bottle, so I’m happy to get to try something I otherwise wouldn’t. I did not notice a difference in my pores after use, though. Hopefully it works better for the poor people who paid full price for it, lol! Although this did not make much difference on my skin, the GLAMGLOW Thirsty Cleanse face wash is my absolute favorite face wash on the planet, so I have nothing against GLAMGLOW. Here is what the mud looks like as it dries.

2. Moisturizing Soft Cream – La Mer. Regular price: $20.50

Dr. Max Huber was an aerospace scientist that suffered a horrific accident – a routine experiment exploded in his face, covering him with severe chemical burns. Neither science nor medicine offered sufficient promise of help, so Huber decided to help himself. Twelve years and 6,000 experiments later, he perfected the crème that would help give skin a dramatically smoother appearance – Crème De La Mer. Crème De La Mer’s secret ingredient is called Miracle Broth, but its “miracle” lies in the way these ingredients are combined – a process called biofermentation. This 3-4 month process results in a whole far greater than the sum of its parts, with the power to transform the skin’s appearance. To activate the broth and release its key ingredients, warm a small amount between your fingertips. As you pat onto clean, dry skin, you will instantly feel the soothing effects of the broth.

I first heard of La Mer in high school, I was at a friends house and she was telling me about how her mom spends a lot of money on a special face cream. Since they did not have a lot of money my friend asked her mom why she spent so much for it, and her mom told her that keeping her skin looking young is really important to her, no price is too much when it comes to skincare. Me and my friend thought that was crazy, of course. Now that I am older, I understand her reasoning, but I also do tons of research before spending money like that. After researching Crème De La Mer and reading a lot of how it isn’t even better than regular anti-aging creams, I decided against it. For my face, I use many products and the only thing they all have in common is the ingredient Sodium Hyaluronate. If you’ve heard of Hyaluronic Acid and it’s moisture retaining, wrinkle filling benefits, you should also know those benefits are pointless because the molecules are too large to penetrate skin when applied topically. Only when injected is it beneficial. Sodium Hyaluronate is the sodium salt of hyaluronic acid, the molecule is much smaller and DOES penetrate the skin when applied topically. It also holds 1000x it’s weight in water and will plump up your skin to visibly reduce fine lines and wrinkles. So yeah, any facial products I use have that as an ingredient.

      3. Clinique Chubby Stick – Super Strawberry. Regular price: $17.00

This gorgeous lip color treats lips to mouthwatering moisture and a hint of soft shine. It never needs sharpening—simply swivel up to reveal more of the balm.

I usually prefer light pink lips, but this color looked pretty good. It is a good color for work or places where I need to look like an adult (aka not have light pink lips).

4. Photo Finish Foundation Primer – smashbox. Regular price: $9.00

Create a perfect canvas for foundation application with this silky, lightweight blend of vitamins A & E, grape seed extract and green tea. Worn alone or under foundation, Smashbox’s best-selling, oil-free primer helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and pores for flawless skin with a velvety-smooth finish.

I really love the feel of this primer. I normally can’t use primers because they feel so grainy and dry, and make my skin feel tight. This primer has a silky smooth texture and dries more like a moisturizer than a regular primer, which I like. I may have to buy more when I run out!

      5. Advanced Night Repair – Estée Lauder. Regular price: $15.00

Reveal a smoother, more luminous, younger look and wake up to beautiful skin every day. This repair serum maximizes the power of skin’s natural nighttime renewal with an exclusive ChronoluxCB™ technology—dramatically reducing visible signs of aging. It improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, hydrates skin, and creates an even-toned, healthier-looking, and refreshed complexion.

This has sodium hyaluronate!! Remember I mentioned earlier that I only use anti aging products with sodium hyaluronate? That is so awesome, yay! This also has a bunch of other fancy ingredients that are good for skin, so I am happy to use this until it’s gone. With this serum, the results are practically instant. Very impressive!

The total value of the products in this months box is $78.75!!!! The Allure Beauty Box costs $15.00/month, so this is a huge value. One of the best values I have seen for a beauty related subscription box. I usually don’t spend more than $10 for makeup and skincare boxes, but I’m making an exception for the Allure Beauty Box!

I calculated the value of these products by dividing the amount in the sample by the amount in a full sized. Then I divided the cost of the full size by the difference in the amounts. Example- Sample is .25 oz, full size is 1.2 oz. 1.2/.25=4.8. Full size is $30.00 so 30/4.8=6.25. Sample is $6.25.
