Pet Treater review April, 2016

Pet Treater is a subscription box for dogs that delivers new toys and treats to your door every month!

The Goods

1. Himalayan Dog Chew Yaky Nugget Dog Treats. Regular price: $4.49

When Yaky Nugget Dog Treats are microwaved, they puff up to five times their original size for 500% more tasty joy! These hard, cheesy treats are great for helping clean the teeth and gums, and contain no additives or artificial preservatives. They’re gluten-free, long lasting, and promote oral hygiene.

See the before and after microwave in third picture! As you can see in second picture, I offered one to Kona without reading the instructions and he ended up spitting it out. But once I figured out what to DO… Nom Nom Nom…

2. Pur Luv Sizzlin Strips Chicken & Sweet Potato Treats for Dogs. Regular price: $4.13

These bacon-style treats are extra chewy and made with wholesome chicken and sweet potato. Sizzlin Strips are also low in fat to support weight management and contain omega fatty acids for healthy skin and a glossy coat. They are made in the USA. Kona enjoyed these and he is a slow chewer so one treat actually lasts him a few minutes! See him laying down like a good dog for his treat… he’s so serious, probably thinking “OK it’s make it or break it time, keep it cool, try and look relaxed…” hahaha.

3. Groomer’s Salon Oatmeal Shampoo and Conditioner Set with Micro Fiber Wash and Dry Mitts. Regular price: $4.99

Proven to heal skin irritations faster, relieves itching of dry irritated skin, soothes and calms skin, and provides natural moisturizing. The 2 Micro Fiber Wash and Dry Mitts make the process quick and painless. Kona actually does have allergies and itches at his feet like they’re corn on the cob lol, so hopefully this shampoo will help relieve some of that.

4. Healthy Omega 3 Natural Bacon Flavored Dog Food Spray 2 oz. Regular price: $5.99

A 2 oz bottle of all natural, bacon flavored dog food topper. Made in the USA with human grade edible oils, with Chia seed oil, Flax seed oil, Canola seed oil, Virgin Olive oil and Soybean oil. Does not turn dry dog food mushy or soggy.

I sprayed this on Kona’s food and he just sniffed it, put a piece of food in his mouth, spit it out, and walked away. Not a fan. Good thing those bacon treats have Omega, lol!

5. Wags & Wiggles – Massaging Bath Mitt. Regular Price: $3.00

With soft bristles, the massaging bath mitt removes loose fur and gives your pet a deep clean. Simply slide onto your hand, adjust, and clean! I’ll defiantly use this when I give Kona the oatmeal bath.

6. Wentoz – Go Fetch Dog Quax Toy. Regular price: $7.00

Great for fetchers and chewers, these durable toys are all made of smooth-to-touch, odor-free silicone and are dishwasher safe. Kona only likes toys that have fur or squeak, of which this toy does none. He wouldn’t even take it from me when I waved it around and played with it to make it seem exciting. He’s not stupid lol. This one will go in my families dogs donation box that has a ever-growing collection of toys Kona is too cool for.

7. Wag More Bark Less Plaque – Cobble Creek. Regular price: $12.00

This plaque looks great next to the other plaques on my Kona shrine, LOL! It is now in between my “All You Need Is Love And A Dog” and “A Spoiled Rotten Dog Lives Here” plaques, haha! I was surprised how heavy duty and solid this plaque is compared to my others, this one is literally a small block.

8. Grriggles Puddle Pals – Chewy Plush Rope Turtle Dog Toy. Regular price: $14.99

This turtle dog toy combines sturdy rope, soft plush, hard tennis balls, and classic squeakers to create a versatile toy for any pooch. It is soft and squeaks, so Kona was interested in this toy. He likes to carry it by the tennis ball but chews on the plush turtle shell.

9. KONG Marathon Bone Dog Toy. Regular price: $11.23. I bought this as a discounted add-on to my box for $4.99.

The Marathon chew treat locks firmly into the toy, creating a long-lasting challenge. Great for boredom, stress or a rewarding chew session, KONG Marathon is a healthy and delicious option for any dog. The treat has a mouthwatering bacon flavor and is made in the USA.

Kona LOVES this toy. My boyfriend was so annoyed last night because Kona was chewing on it all night in bed… Good boy. He is still working on it and has only gotten through about half the bone in 24 hrs.

A lot of reviews said their dogs tore this apart right away but Kona is actually not much of a “chewer” per say, he loves chewing on things but he must be weak or something because long lasting chew toys like this actually last a long time for him and he doesn’t destroy what’s holding the chewy part because Kona ain’t got time for that – he just wants the good stuff. So I guess I’m lucky in that way. It’s also nice to have long lasting chews like this around to keep him preoccupied from his separation anxiety when I’m at work, you know? That reminds me, someone needs to make a subscription box strictly for dogs with separation anxiety that include distractions for when you are at work, like long lasting chew toys, dog  TV DVD’s, etc… but I’m totally going off track so I’m going to shut up now.

Oh, and I also got a code for $35 off my first HelloFresh box. I already have had a HelloFresh subscription, so if anyone wants to snag this code – have at it!

The items in this months box (minus my add-on item) are worth a total of about $57.00. The subscription is $24/mo with the month to month subscription. This is the subscription option I pay for, but there are less expensive plans if you buy all at once. I think the value is great, I am staying subscribed to this one .

Ease of Cancellation

The FAQ says to cancel, just go to “My Account” and hit “Suspend”.

I did not have a clickable “suspend” button, so I emailed support and they responded with this: “The suspend button is removed when you have a pending shipment. This is to prevent confusion from people thinking they’ve canceled the shipment instead of the subscriptions. I’ve gone ahead and canceled the subscription for you at this time.”

I probably should have specified I was asking for information and not because I wanted to cancel, but I will still get my May box since I was already charged. I tend to go with the flow in life so I will just get my May box and that will be my last one, the universe spoke.
