Darby Smart is a subscription box that delivers all the materials you’ll need for a new DIY craft every month!
For this months project, Darby Smart provided all the ingredients you’ll need to make at-home heart shaped sugar scrubs.
The info card provided said to go to darbysmart.com/how-to and enter code for instructions, but that webpage was a no-hit. Turns out it’s just darbysmart.com/howto.
Once I figured that out, it was time to start creating! First step was to put the soap cubes in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for 20 seconds.
Once microwaved, add the pink mica, grapeseed oil, sugar, and fragrance oil. Mine were citrus flavored.
As you can see here I transferred to the jar that came with the kit before it was time, so I put it all back in the original bowl to finish lol!
Once mixed well, it’s time to pour into the molds. It said if the mixture will not pour to microwave it more. I microwaved it until it was easy to pour and filled the molds. Then it was time to set in the refrigerator and wait 20 minutes!
The Final Result
Yay! Homemade sugar scrub hearts that I made myself, how satisfying! I gave them a try in the shower this morning. They worked like regular soap, lathered up and everything, but it didn’t really feel like a scrub/exfoliative. I think when I microwaved it to pour, I put it in too long and dissolved the sugar… oops! They still do the job and I love that there is grapeseed oil in them! Grapeseed oil restores collagen, making skin firm and smoothing lines and wrinkles. It also prevents acne and balances you skin. Sugar is good for skin as well, and mica gives it a healthy glow. These little hearts are great all around!
Darby Smart is $19.00 a month, and I think the value lies more so in the experience than the cost. To me, being able to take a break and create something for myself or someone I love every month is priceless. I’m going to stick to this one, so stay tuned for more awesome crafts on my blog!
