Harrison Blake review April and May, 2017 (+ 50% off!)

The Harrison Blake Monthly Subscription is a subscription that delivers 1 necktie and 4 additional accessories, such as pocket squares, lapel pins, tie bars and more every month. Each of the items will be exclusive and hand selected, and be completely coordinated to make it easy to dress to impress

This review is for the April and May Harrison Blake subscriptions.

The Goods

  1. Anchor Necktie – Harrison Blake. Regular price: $30.00

This tie is red with white anchors. I really like this pattern because it’s unique but not over-the-top. It looks good with a navy suit.

  1. Plaid Cotton Pocket Square – Harrison Blake. Regular price: $20.00

This pocket square is hand crafted and 100% cotton. The hint of red in the pattern pulls together the look of a navy suit and the red anchor tie.

  1. Baseball Cap – Harrison Blake. Regular price: $25.00

My boyfriend is a big fan of baseball caps… generally if he’s not at work, he’s wearing one. He loved the style, fit and color of this one. It will probably be the item that gets the most use out of everything in this shipment.

  1. Stainless Steel Ring – Harrison Blake. Regular price: $35.00

This ring is really sharp! I love the design with the black and silver stripes. It’s really nice for a men’s ring. Unfortunately, my boyfriend does not wear rings so I will probably pass this on to an uncle or cousin,

  1. No Show Boat Socks – Harrison Blake. Regular price: $7.00

These socks have an American flag design and are super soft! These are perfect to wear with shorts because they’re no show. I told my boyfriend when the box came that these socks are mine.. lol. He didn’t argue. So now I have a cool new pair of soft socks!

  1. Foldable Water Bottle – Harrison Blake. BONUS ITEM

This foldable water bottle is perfect for music fests and to take on bike rides. The metal carabiner hooks easily on a belt loop or fanny pack strap (don’t judge me). It’s so annoying being at fest carrying around a bulky water bottle and it’s even worse trying to carry one while riding a bike. This solves the problem because it hooks on, I don’t have to hold it when I’m not using it.

The value of the items in April’s box is $117.00. For a $25.00/mo subscription, that is an awesome value! My boyfriend loves the tie and baseball cap. I love the socks and foldable water bottle… so we are actually both happy with this one!

The Goods

  1. Striped Necktie – Harrison Blake. Regular price: $30.00

This necktie is a bright orange-ish red color with navy blue stripes. Another tie that would look good with a navy suit! The pattern is classic and fashionable.

  1. Cotton Pocket Square – Harrison Blake. Regular price: $20.00

This pocket square is hand crafted and 100% cotton. It is white with red polka dots, the red dots and blue trim accent the tie perfectly.

  1. Gold Collar Stays – Harrison Blake. Regular price: $15.00

This set of collar stays will keep your collar stiff and crisp. My boyfriend doesn’t know what to do with these… apparently he’s not advanced enough in the sharp dressing category to have use for them. I’ll probably give them to my brother.

  1. Aviator Sunglasses – Harrison Blake. Regular price: $30.00

I love these sunglasses! Luckily my boyfriend doesn’t like aviators so these get to be mine 🙂 . Check out how cool I am…

  1. White Rosette Lapel – Harrison Blake. Regular price: $15.00

This elegant and classy design resembles a rose and is sure to class up any outfit. This will be nice for him to wear when we go out to dinner and if I wear a white dress… we would be quite the fancy couple!

  1. Air Freshener – Harrison Blake. BONUS ITEM

This air freshener smells really good, I would use it but it’s distinctly a male scent. I put it on my boyfriend’s rear view mirror in his car. Now his car smells so fresh and so clean clean!

The total value of the items in May’s box is $110.00. Once again, not bad for $25.00/mo subscription! My boyfriend really likes the tie from this month. I like the aviators, I needed a new pair of sunglasses so it works out.

Sign up for Harrison Blake today and use code FBMAY for 50% off your first box! That’s FIVE high quality fashion accessories for only $12.50!

The Goods

  1. Pain Relief Patch – Tiger Balm. Regular price: $1.00

Combining Tiger Balm’s blend of herbal ingredients with the cleanliness of a patch, Tiger Balm Pain Relieving Patches provide strong and convenient pain relief for hours with minimal odor. They’re not messy or greasy, and will not stain clothing. The ventilated hydrogel patch contours to your body to deliver optimal comfort and relief, and the pull-and-peel protective film makes it easy to apply and painless to remove. My lower back has been sore all week, I think I pulled a muscle so when I saw this I thought, “how convenient!” Lol. I put one on my lower back and after about an hour, the area was numbed and painless. I’m impressed!

  1. Hyaluronic DMAE Lift & Firm Cream – Andalou. Regular price: $2.00

Fruit stem cell complex, resveratrol CoQ10, and hyaluronic acid join forces to boost dermal vitality, supporting essential building blocks, collagen and elastin, for a more lifted, firmer, youthful appearance and rejuvenated complexion. When I read the ingredients I was beyond impressed.. all of my favorite ingredients for anti-aging products are in this one cream. I looked up reviews online and saw over and over women saying this is the only cream they’ve used that gave visible results and how much they loved it. The best part.. it’s only $18 full size! I actually loved this so much that I already bought it full sized off Amazon!

  1. Kick Ass Dark Roast Ground Coffee – Kicking Horse. Regular price: $9.99

This coffee is filter drip, sweet, smoky, organic and roasted in Canada. It is fair trade so farmers receive a fair price regardless of market forces. This organic arabica coffee is grown in the shade of rainforest canopy: conditions which offer superior quality and maintain a natural, healthy and balanced ecosystem for birds and plants. This coffee had a very unique and delicious flavor, I normally drink light roast but this was delicious.

  1. Creamy Peanut Butter – Georgia Grinders. Regular price: $2.00

Consisting of 2 simple ingredients, peanut + sea salt, the crew at Georgia Grinders source GEORGIA GROWN peanuts, slow roast them and grind to their signature texture in the CREAMY version. Peanut butter is one thing I never considered buying a healthy version of. This peanut butter is way more healthy than Jif or Peter Pan, and tastes just as good. Super creamy and still sweet, it tastes delicious.

  1. Ginger Candy Chews – Prince of Peace. Regular price: $1.99

100% Natural Ginger Candy Chews. Has a hard flavored ginger shell, soft center with natural blend of unique herbs. Individually wrapped. These candies were pretty good, although ginger makes my tongue feel weird for some reason. I’ll probably eat these, but I won’t be out buying more.

  1. Happy Little Bodies Eczema Body Wash and Shampoo – Natralia. Regular price: $7.99

Happy Little Bodies Eczema Body Wash & Shampoo is a soap-free alternative to harsh shampoos and soaps. Its all-natural, gentle formula is non-irritating and helps manage skin irritation, itching, and dryness. My boyfriend has eczema and has to use a special shampoo that is prescribed along with his regular shampoo. He’s trying this out now since it is for eczema and hasn’t had any complaints. I’m using it as body wash and the gentle formula does not irritate my skin and leaves it feeling soft.

  1. Berry & Citrus Energy Stickpacks – Volo Vitamins. Regular price: $2.45

Volo Vitamins took their blend of vitamins, minerals, and seventeen different fruits and added just the right amount of natural energy boosters, including a full complement of B vitamins and essential amino acids. These energizing nutrients help both body and mind power through tough workouts and recover more quickly and more completely. Volo Energy is ultra portable, has no added sugar, and is ready to hit the gym when you are. Unfortunately I do not like the taste of these at all, and they may provide energy for someone that doesn’t drink a triple espresso shot latte every morning (AKA me).

  1. Caffeinated Breath Mints – Viter Energy. Regular price: $.50

Viter Energy Mints are breath mints about the size of an Icebreaker or Altoid mint. The mints are wintergreen flavor with a touch of menthol for a strong kick. They contain 40mg of caffeine each. One mint has about half the amount of caffeine as a standard 8 ounce cup of brewed coffee and half the amount of caffeine as in a standard sized energy drink. The mint is a bit strong for my taste, but I love these anyways because they have caffeine! I normally buy “coffee shots” that are the size of a creamer and have 40mg of caffeine each and add a few to my coffee each morning, but these mints are even more convenient because I can get my fix without even having to Drink coffee. I love it.

  1. Cologne Wipes for Men – Swago. Regular price: $1.25

SWAGO cologne wipes for men on-the-go. One-time Cologne Applicator. Travels easily in your carry-on, pocket or wallet. TSA can’t take this cologne away! Portable, inexpensive and convenient. Perfect for a weekend getaway or business trip. I was impressed by how great this wipe smelled, it smells like a high quality cologne. These would be great for men to keep in their wallet in case a moment arises where they want to smell good but don’t have time to run home.

  1. Maple Pecan Cookies – Ona. Regular price: $2.59

The Maple Pecan Ona Cookie is soft and chewy in texture and very rich and buttery in taste. A flavorful blend of almond flour, pecans, maple syrup, coconut oil, and honey round out the flavor profile of this incredibly satisfying cookie. Maple Pecan Ona Cookies are full of healthy fats and clean ingredients and are sure to satisfy your appetite and sweet tooth. If you enjoy pancakes and waffles smothered in maple syrup and butter, then you definitely want to try these out. I love how delicious these cookies taste, it’s an added bonus that they are a good source of healthy carbs, fat, and fiber and not too sweet.

The value of the items in this months box is $31.76… which is pretty great considering the box is FREE! The premise of this box reminds me of Influenster, but I prefer Daily Goodie Box because you don’t have to work for it. With Influenster I have to work to get a box, like doing reviews, posting pictures, tagging Every Single thing I get on Instagram, and a bunch more rules in order to get credit and a chance at another box. Daily Goodie box is less work, they still want you to review but I can handle that since I am a reviewer and all, haha.

FabFitFun review Spring, 2017

The FabFitFun Box is a quarterly subscription from FabFitFun.com. Each season they send you a box of $100+ worth of items in categories like beauty, fashion, and fitness.

This review is for the Spring FabFitFun box.

The Goods

  1. Beach Roundie – Gypsy05. Regular price: $50.00

This is a round beach blanket with tassel trim and a colorful spring pattern. It is made from 100% cotton and has a diameter of 62 ½ inches. I’ve been eyeing these online for awhile, so I’m glad I never ordered one and the universe  brought this one to me! I can’t wait to take it to the beach this summer.

  1. Nail Polish in Shape of My Heart / Like a Virgin – Deborah Lippmann. Regular price: $19.00

These two mini nail polishes are a light cream color and a light lavender. I am not impressed with the pigment of this particular polish, after 3 coats it is still a bit translucent. Good thing I don’t wear nail polish anyways so no harm no foul.

  1. Joshua Tree Cage Bracelet – Emerald Duv. Regular price: $80.00

The Joshua Tree Cuff Bracelet by Emerald Duv features a lightweight design with an open body, all the right angles and curves for easy wear stacked up or solo. It has a 7” circumference and is made in the USA. The bracelet is cute, I generally do not wear any jewelry, but I’d totally wear this with a flowy dress (on the RARE occasion I wear a dress) or with my bikini at the beach because, why not?

  1. Lip Kit – RealHer. Regular price: $48.00

Talk about lip service! Made from natural ingredients, this liquid lipstick, plumping lip gloss, and lip liner trio is so pretty you’ll be kissing the mirror before you leave the house. I really do love the shade of pink these came in. Below I’m showing pictures of my lips with just the liner, then just the liner and lip stick, then all 3. I’m so impressed with the pigment of this brand AND how long it lasts, it’s magic!

  1. Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray – Briogeo. Regular price: $20.00

Does your hair need some extra love? This ultra-lightweight spray is fortified with a unique blend of rosehip, argan, and coconut oils to improve hair’s softness, strength, and moisture levels, while acting as a barrier against heat. I used this last night and my hair does seem extra soft and shiny today.

  1. Microdermabrasion Age Defying Exfoliator – Dr. Brandt. Regular price: $79.00

Reveal radiant and renewed skin! This formula contains aluminum oxide crystals, lactic acid, and smoothing botanicals to polish away dead cells and leave you with bright, smooth, healthy-looking skin. I’m so happy to get this in my box because I got a similar Dr. Brandt face wash in my BoxyCharm box and it is just about to run out, and I was bummed because obviously I’m not going to buy more for $79, and now I don’t have to!

  1. Hydrating Face Masks – Karuna. Regular price: $28.00

Karuna serum-infused sheet masks help restore skin’s vitality by pushing serum deeper onto the skin surface where ingredients are needed the most. The mask + serum duo offers so much more than serum, clay or gel does on its own. Made from biodegradable wood pulp natural cloth that retains 50% more moisture than synthetic material, Karuna Sheet Masks help pores fully absorb nourishing ingredients that help create instantly visible results. I would agree my skin looked brighter after using one of these masks, which is to be expected when you have serum soaking in to your face for 20 minutes.

  1. Slay All Day Zip Pouch – MILLY. Regular price: $45.00

Prepare to slay carrying this canvas pouch from MILLY. The perfect size for holding toiletries or makeup, this pouch makes a serious statement. I love how roomy this bag is (10 ¼” x 8”). I normally use 2-3 makeup bags to hold all of my makeup when I go on vacation or  need to take it with me somewhere. I always wish I had a larger makeup bag but have never actively tried to find or buy one. This bag is the PERFECT size for all of my makeup, plus it’s super cute and even waterproof! Winning.

  1. Hair, Skin & Nails Gummies – Nature’s Bounty. Regular price: $9.49

Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails Gummies provide you with the vital nutrients your body needs to support your natural beauty from within. Vitamin E and Vitamin C are antioxidants. Vitamin E contributes to skin health, and Vitamin C is involved in collagen production and formation, which forms the basis for vibrant skin. Biotin helps to maintain healthy hair. These strawberry flavored gummies taste delicious and I will gladly use these until they run out! Any supplements I take, I buy in the gummy version if it’s available, not only because they taste good but supplements are less likely to be absorbed and beneficial in pill form. It’s ideal to get vitamins from food because they absorb correctly, but my theory is that gummies are the next best thing.

The items in this month’s box are worth a total of ~$378.49! The seasonal subscription renews each quarter and costs $49.99/box. I used a $10.00 off coupon and got my box for $39.99, so I got more than 9x what I paid for the box! Plus I will actually use everything but the nail polish, I really lucked out. I absolutely LOVE the beach blanket and makeup bag, I’m excited about the gummies and the lip kit is the perfect color for me. This was my first experience with FabFitFun, and I am not disappointed!

Target Beauty Box review April, 2017

The Target Beauty Box is a one-time purchase seasonal box that includes deluxe sized samples and full sized beauty products available at Target.

This review is for the April Target Beauty Box.

The Goods

  1. Colour Precise White Eyeliner – Rimmel. Regular price: $5.59

Rimmel’s Colour Precise Eyeliner is their first soft tapered felt tip, colored liquid liner delivering a high dose of color with excellent precision and absolute accuracy to achieve thin, fine lines or bold flicks with exceptional staying power. The ultimate tool for defining eyes, this liner has a creamy texture and is easy to apply in one single stroke. I was planning on giving this to a friend, but figured I might as well try it first. It actually doesn’t look so bad, check it out!

  1. Toleriane Purifying Foaming Cleanser – La Roche-Posay. Regular price: $1.00

Freshen, cleanse and remove excess oil with La Roche Posay Toleriane Purifying Foaming Cleanser. This soap, sulfate and fragrance-free cleanser is boosted by the use of prebiotic thermal water, working gently and effectively while taming oily skin. This cleanser is gentle and effortlessly removes all of my makeup and leaves my face feeling fresh and clean.

  1. Double-Duty Base & Top Coat – Sally Hansen. Regular price: $3.99

Why buy base coat and a top coat when you can get all the benefits in one product? Double Duty is a combination of base coat and top coat that hydrates and seals the nail bed. It can be used as an extremely durable top coat over your favorite Sally Hansen nail enamel. I actually do not wear nail polish, but I don’t mind clear polish just to keep my nails safe and strong.

  1. Argan Oil Repairing Deep Conditioner – HASK. Regular price: $1.74

This deep conditioner is a super strengthening, hydrating treatment that will restore and smooth dry, damaged, chemically treated or over processed hair. Argan Oil, unique to Morocco, is known for its high absorbing, penetrating and split end repairing qualities while leaving even the most damaged hair soft and nourished with added moisture. I applied this all over my hair in the shower, switched to bath and took a bath and washed up, then back to shower mode and rinsed it out. That way it was in my hair for about 15 minutes, and after I blow-dried my hair it was sooo soft and smooth, it felt like I’d just gotten home from the salon. I love it.

  1. Lavender Foaming Bath – Dr. Teals. Regular price: $1.00

Dr. Teal’s Lavender Foaming Bath transforms an ordinary bath into a relaxing spa with luxurious essential oils to soothe the senses, relax tense muscles and provide relief from stress. Lavender essence has soothing properties that are known to encourage a better night’s sleep. This is absolutely perfect for me! I love baths, with bath bombs, bath soak, essential oil, salts you name it. This lavender foaming bath smells amazing and is super soothing and relaxing to use in a late-night bath.

  1. Facial Cleanser – eb5. Regular price: $1.00

Eb5 Facial Cleanser is gentle and moisturizing, Discover the sensation of clean, healthy skin without the dryness, tightness or irritation that normal soaps cause! Soap-free and non-foaming AHAs gently exfoliate while Vitamins E and B5 nourish your skin. This cleanser leaves my skin feeling clean and refreshed.

  1. Dry Balance SPF 30 – Banana Boat. Regular price: $1.30

According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, 1oz (golf ball size) of sunscreen should be applied daily, 30 minutes before heading outside, and reapplied every two hours or immediately after swimming, sweating or toweling off – but many beach and park-goers alike are deterred by the sticky, weighted feeling of their sunscreens. That’s why Banana Boat® is excited to introduce NEW Banana Boat Dry Balance Sunscreen, formulated to draw away excess moisture, and dry with a soft matte finish – so nice that you’ll want to reapply! Designed for ideal skin feel, this sunscreen keeps you protected from the sun while feeling dry and fresh so you can enjoy your day – no matter where you are!

The value of the products in this month’s box is about $15.62. Given the quality of the products and the $7.49 price tag of this box, this is an ok value. I hope I can manage to get another Target Beauty Box in the future, so far I’ve gotten lucky twice, I have my fingers crossed for upcoming boxes! This box did not have as great a value as Target boxes usually do, but that’s ok. I like everything that came except maybe the white eyeliner. Overall I’m happy with this box.

This is the link to the Beauty Box, but I’m not sure when the next box will be released and this box is currently sold out. Good Luck!

Ease of Cancellation

This box is not a subscription, it is a first-come first-serve limited release box.

PLAY! by Sephora review April, 2017

Play! By Sephora is a subscription box that delivers a box of 5 deluxe samples, a fragrance sample and a collectible bag to your door every month.

This review is for the April Play! By Sephora box.

The Goods

  1. Full Dry Volume Blast – Living Proof. Regular price: $15.00

Living Proof Full Dry Volume Blast is a spray that creates volume and texture that’s almost as light as air and gives big, lasting results on dry hair. It’s powered by Living Proof’s Volumizing and Texturizing Molecule which is lighter and bigger than industry standard ingredients, so it delivers big volume and texture on your hair without weighing it down. I straighten my hair so it’s smooth but hate that it makes my hair lay so flat. After using this spray it single handedly made my hair look thicker and have more texture, I’m impressed! A little too expensive for me so I’m glad to get it in the box and get to use this until it’s gone.

  1. REVEAL Concentrated Luminizing Drops in Pearl – Algenist. Regular price: $12.00

A multi-use featherweight drop formula which can be used alone for an enhanced highlighting effect or added to your favorite beauty products to impart a radiant glow. I love products that are luminizing and give my skin a dewey glow, and these drops do just that. When I mix a few with my coverup, it gives my skin a natural looking, beautiful glow. I love this!

  1. Watt’s Up! Cream-to-Powder Highlighter – Benefit Cosmetics. Regular price: $7.30

Benefit Cosmetics soft focus highlighter turns on “watt” ya got with a delicate champagne glow that’s gorgeous. With a cream-to-powder finish…it’s a switch on “wow” for all complexions. You’ll adore the smooth applicator & luminous sheen. This is so perfect for highlighting when I do my makeup using contour, because I can precisely highlight the bridge of my nose, across the top of my cheekbones, and so on. I normally need to use all different size brushes to highlight the different areas, but with this I can easily make the highlight as thin or wide as I need.

  1. Artist Shadow in I-544 – Make Up For Ever. Regular price: $6.00

Artist Shadow’s innovative “gel-powder” smooth formula boasts intense color pay-off and high blendability. This color is a pink granite and does blend effortlessly. It’s a perfect color for above the crease of my eyelid, just under the highlighted brow bone.

  1. GLOWSTARTER Mega Illuminating Moisturizer – GLAMGLOW. Regular price: $6.90

A hydrating, super-charged cream with iridescent illuminating pearl particles to blur, reflect, and enhance your complexion for an instant luminous finish. This moisturizer is formulated with vitamins, botanicals, hyaluronic acid, and TEAOXI golden root technology that instantly floods skin with hydration for healthy-looking radiance. I absolutely LOVE this moisturizer, it’s so perfect for summer when I’m going to be swimming or at the beach and not wearing makeup, it still gives my skin a radiant glow that looks beautiful.

  1. FREE scent Clementine California – Atelier Cologne.

This scent has a little too much juniper for my taste, it reminds me of Christmas, lol. I can’t wear perfume anyways because it gives me headaches so I’ll probably give this to my sister.

The value of the products in this month’s box is around $47.20! I even used the prices for the samples I received, not the full sized products, so this is the true value and I’d say it’s a steal! The box is only $10.00/month, so almost 5x the value is great. The only product I really won’t use is the fragrance, and it’s a bummer for me that every box comes with a fragrance considering I don’t wear perfume lol. But I did love the other samples! I’m obsessed with having glowing skin and using highlighter for contour makeup and this box literally has everything I could possibly want for my favorite look. Even the hair spray makes a huge difference in my hair, this one box basically has all I need to get ready, woohoo!

Play! by Sephora is $10.00 per month with free shipping and handling, $10.70 with tax.

There is usually a waiting list for this box, so you can sign up for the waiting list here. I was on it for two weeks before I got my email, which was not long to wait at all.

BoxyCharm review April, 2017

BoxyCharm is a beauty box subscription that delivers five full-size and luxury travel-size products to your door every month. The subscription costs $21 per month with a retail value over $100 & free shipping.

The theme for the March box is “Creepy Cute.”

The Goods

  1. Deluxe Fan Brush – Crown Brush. Regular price: $18.99

This Fan Brush features a large, fanned brush head perfect for the soft application of powder products. This brush is also great for lightly dusting shimmer products onto skin. I like this fan brush because it can be used not only for highlighters, but it is tough enough to be used to buff out powder and bronzers.

  1. Photo Finish Foundation Primer – Smashbox. Regular price: $36.00

Create a perfect canvas for foundation application with this silky, lightweight blend of vitamins A & E, grape seed extract and green tea. Worn alone or under foundation, Smashbox’s best-selling, oil-free primer helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and pores for flawless skin with a velvety-smooth finish. I hate the way this feels on my skin, it’s very viscous. It creates a strange dry but slippery surface but once it is covered in makeup it feels OK.

  1. Lip Liner in “I am Precious” – RealHer. Regular price: $12.50

This lip liner is infused with Jojoba Seed Oil and Shea Butter and glides on smoothly. It has long-lasting wear that does not feather or bleed. I’m not a fan of lip liner, I’m a chap stick and lip-gloss kind of girl so I will probably pass this on to a friend.

  1. Matte Liquid Lipstick in “I Deserve the Best.” – RealHer. Regular price: $15.00

Lightweight formula glides onto lips leaving super intense color with a bold, ultra matte finish. Long wearing and completely kiss proof. Bomb formulation helps to combat dryness and nourish your lips during wear. Although this is labeled a lipstick, since it is nourishing and combats dryness, I don’t mind it. It feels nice with some extra lip-gloss on top and I absolutely L-O-V-E this color!!

  1. Urban Rustic Trio Pressed Eyeshadow Palette – Naked Cosmetics. Regular price: $39.99

These colors offer a dramatic look when applied damp or with an eye base. The colors have hints of green, bronze, purple, and brown. These highly pigmented pressed eye shadows have a soft silky feel, and a little goes a LONG way. When used with a damp brush these colors go on dark and dramatic, I like the colors but I would prefer colors that were more practical for every day wear.

The products in this month’s box are worth $122.48. That’s well over 5x what I pay for BoxyCharm, so I’d say this is a great value! If you are someone who subscribes to more than one of the cheaper $10/mo boxes, you would definitely get more bang for your buck to cancel 2 of those and use that money for this box. Full size products go a LONG way. It’s just so nice to get all these high end beauty products that I normally couldn’t (or wouldn’t)  afford in full sizes for longer lasting products. This was my first box and I love every single thing, the only thing I’m upset about is that I didn’t subscribe sooner!

Use this link and sign up for BoxyCharm today! They have a wait list but I got accepted after just two weeks.

Ipsy is a subscription that delivers full and deluxe sized beauty products with a makeup bag to your door every month!

The theme for the March box is “You are beautiful (Pass it on).”

The Goods

  1. Peach Blush – Ofra Cosmetics. Regular price: $15.00

OFRA’s fabulous pressed powder with strong pigment for a long lasting effect which can be applied wet or dry with a powder or blush brush. This shade is a bit light for my skin tone, but I love the shimmer. Even though it doesn’t work as blush for me, it makes a great highlighter!

  1. Fat Brow Liner in Light to Medium – EYEKO. Regular price: $22.00

Enhance your brows with a single stroke colour. Create a bold look with a natural finish with this easy-to-use liquid felt tip to strengthen the sparest of brows. Accentuate, shape and define in seconds. Wow, I’ve never tried liquid brow liner like this before and I LOVE it!! The shade is perfect, it defines my brows easily but blends in without looking unnaturally dark. This is my third EYEKO product I’ve tried, and so far I LOVE them all! Woohoo! I love how much easier it is to make my brows sharp and defined with this as opposed to powder or mascara style brow enhancers.

  1. Affinitic Snail Cream – Ladykin. Regular price: $4.00

This anti-wrinkle snail cream is made with 80% snail secretion filtrate. Snail slime called mucin is mainly composed of “chondroitin”, which improves skin elasticity and damaged skin as well as increases softness. Mucin prevents/treats dry skin by preventing water loss from the external environment, the reason why a snail retains a wet skin. This is quite the interesting concept, I googled the process to collect the secretion and although it is claimed no snails are harmed or killed, after watching a video of bags full of snails being submerged and scraped I doubt this is true. Even so, I was impressed with how well this keeps my skin moisturized.

  1. Photo Chic Dark Spot Corrector – City Color Cosmetics. Regular price: ~$2.00

Photo Chic Dark Spot Corrector is a peach tinted concealer used to minimize the appearance of dark spots and circles. The thick formula provides long lasting coverage that brightens undereye darkness to a healthy, fresh and rested appearance. This works surprisingly well for a drug store priced item! Check out how it worked on my dark spot… lol

  1. Tweezers – Chella. Regular price: $20.00

To create your ideal brow look, remove any unwanted hairs with this perfect-grip tweezer. To use: grip an individual hair and utilize a quick upward motion to lift and remove hairs as desired. These tweezers are indeed comfortable to hold, but did not strike me as particularly great at gripping hairs. The larger hairs sure, but I had to a try a few times for the thinner hairs.

This is my favorite GlamBag yet, because the top comes folded and it’s actually LARGE! It fits wayyy more makeup than any other GlamBag I have. I’m pretty sure I saw it I thought, “Finally..”

The products in the month’s box are worth $63.00! That’s more than 6x the $10.00/month cost of ipsy, so I’d say that’s an awesome value. The brow liner is by far my favorite product this month… and the GlamBag itself. Snail moisturizer is a cool concept although morally it makes me uncomfortable. Everything else I will use, this month I wasn’t blown away with the selection I received but that’s OK because I love ipsy! By far the best beauty subscription for the price.

The Goods

  1. Small Pink Makeup Palette – Z-Palette. Regular price: $14.00

This pint-size Z Palette will fit just about anywhere and fits up to 9 standard-sized round pans. Completely customizable, the Small Z Palette features an open-face, magnetic base that allows you to easily switch out shades and products as often as you like! It comes with round and square magnets that have sticky backs to keep makeup pots in place. I also got some eyeshadows in this month’s box that I put in this palette, see below.

  1. Matte and Duo-Chrome Eyeshadows in Cocoa Bear and Mai Tai – Makeup Geek. Regular price: $12.00

MakeupGeek Eyeshadows offer high-end quality at affordable rates. All their eyeshadow pans are cruelty-free, talc-free & paraben-free. I received the duo-chrome eyeshadow in Mai Tai and matte eyeshadow in Cocoa Bear. The Mai Tai is a bronzey pink shimmery shade, and Cosmopolitan is a matte reddish brown hue. In the pictures below, I have Mai Tai in the crease of my eyelid and Cosmopolitan on my brow bone. These are great colors on and I’m really happy with them. I used the sticky magnets to hold them in the Z-Palette.

  1. Microdermabrasion Skin Exfoliant – Dr. Brandt. Regular price: $79.00

Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Skin Exfoliant is a revolutionary formula designed to mimic the transformative brightening, smoothing effects of the popular in-office microdermabrasion treatment at home. This cleanser helps diminish the appearance of fine lines, acne marks, and skin discolorations. My skin feels super smooth after using this, and my pores actually appear smaller too. I was happy to get this considering I’d never actually pay $79 for facewash lol.

  1. Gel Lip Liner in Cinnamon – BellaPierre. Regular price: $18.00

These waterproof lip pencils can be used to prep the lips for Mineral Lipstick, or on their own as an all-over lip color. Creating a perfectly defined pout that lasts all day has never been easier, with these creamy liners that glide on effortlessly. Formulated with pure minerals, natural waxes, and antioxidants, these are hypoallergenic and safe for all skin types. I don’t normally use lip liner, but I do like the color of this and might use it sometimes if I’m going out and won’t get to reapply lip makeup often. In the pictures I used it as liner and all over, with a clear lip-gloss and a pink gloss.

  1. BoxyCharm Eye Brush Set – Royal and Langnickel [R]evolution. Regular price: $23.97

This set comes with three brushes for eyeshadow. Bx-80 for detailed eyeshadow application on eyelid, Bx-90 professional pointed crease and corner eyeshadow application, and Bx-95 precision eyeshadow detail smudger for sharp creases and contouring. I’ve been using all 3 since I got the set and I love these brushes! They’re the perfect combination of soft and firm. Firm enough to precisely apply enough shadow for great pigment and soft enough to change the area of coverage depending on how much pressure you use.

The value of the products in this month’s box is $146.97! That is an awesome value for just $21.

BarkBox review March, 2017

BarkBox is a subscription that delivers a box of new dog toys and treats to your door every month!

The theme for the January box is “Sniffin’ Safari!”.

The Goods

  1. Nik Knacks Lamb Ears – Superior Farms. Regular price: $4.00

Superior Farms Nik Knacks Lamb Ears are wholesome chews dogs love. These ears are all natural and sourced from New Zealand and the United States. Each chew is responsibly sourced and is great for dogs that love to chew. Lamb Ears are not as greasy or hard as pig ears. Kona finished one ear about 7 minutes, he loved it! It’s hard to believe it’s an animals ear because it looks and feels just like rawhide. Anyways, Kona approved! PS- Do you guys like his hair cut?!

  1. Charlie’s Heart of Cheesiness Snacks with Cheddar – Bark & Co. Regular price: $8.00

Who can resist the cheesy goodness of real cheddar? Grain free and made in the USA, these soft treats are made without any of the gross preservatives, wacky colorings or weird fillers. You can feel good about giving your dog rich, creamy taste of 100% real cheese. Kona LoVeS these treats! Look at him licking his lips and going head-over-tail for them!

  1. Hangry Hangry Hippo – Bark & Co. Regular price: $12.00

With a belly full of squeaker ball, this Bark & Co original is noisy enough to entertain your dog for hours (and it won’t prey on your pup). It’s rope tail is great for a rousing game of tug-of-war or just some thrashing around your local watering hole. With a body that is velvety soft, this toy is perfect for cuddly pup, or ones who’d like to sink their teeth a humongous herbivore. Kona really enjoyed playing with this toy, he loves soft squeaky toys. Check him out.

  1. Chicken Semi-Moist Mini Trainers – Grumps Naturals. Regular price: $8.00

Crumps’ Naturals Mini Trainers are a small size, but have big taste. It is a semi-moist snack that is made into bite-size pieces that are great for snacking or use as a training aid. One taste of the mini trainers and your dog will be ready and willing to cooperate during sessions. Each piece is approximately 2.1 calories and is made in small batches to ensure freshness and high quality. Kona absolutely loved these! I forgot to snap a pic of him with them though.

  1. Reba’s Ready for Anything Vest – Bark & Co. Regular price: $8.00

This adventure vest toy is ready for anything (especially playtime). Preparation is the key to success; take it from Reba. With Reba’s Ready for Anything Vest on hand (or in mouth, rather), your pup will be equipped for tons of fun. This Bark & Co Original features crinkly sides that make a satisfying sound and pockets that house squeakers to surprise and delight your dog. Kona really enjoys crinkle toys AND squeaker toys so the combo was a hit!

The items in this month’s box are worth a total of $40.00. This subscription is 24.00/month for me with the 3 month option. The month-to-month price for Bark Box is $29.00, so I think it makes sense to buy 3 months and save $15.00. BarkBox always has high quality toys and treats, and never disappoints me. In my opinion, BarkBox is the best option for a dog subscription if you are interested in a dog subscription that has equal amounts of toys and treats. (Other boxes focus on one or the other).

This month was a good box. Kona loved every single item in the box, which is surprisingly rare because he can be picky, lol! He went crazy for the treats, devoured the lamb ear, and had a blast with his new toys!

ipsy review February, 2017

Ipsy is a subscription that delivers full and deluxe sized beauty products with a makeup bag to your door every month!

This month’s theme is “#IPSY MUCH LOVE.”

The Goods

  1. Butter Lipstick in Lifeguard – NYX. Regular price: $6.00

Treat your lips to a kiss of smooth, creamy color with irresistible Butter Lipstick. The formula’s delicate satin texture fused with highly saturated color delivers full-yet-lightweight coverage with a luxurious satin finish. This lipstick really does have a unique, velvety texture that I didn’t mind. Too bad I’d never wear this color, though!

  1. Volumelash Waterproof Mascara – BellaPierre Cosmetics. Regular price: $20.00

This mascara has a flexible brush that perfectly separates and coats every single lash, so your lashes are full and defined. This is removed easily with a makeup wipe even though it is waterproof, no tugging and rubbing required! I usually don’t like waterproof mascara because it is so hard to remove, but this mascara really did come off easily and I love how it made my lashes look. It isn’t clumpy and adds a ton of length and volume. Awesome!

  1. Luminude in Primrose – Seraphine Botanicals. Regular price: $24.00

A soft-touch skin luminizer made from cold-pressed Evening Primrose Oil that gives a youthful brilliance and glow to your complexion. I used this as highlighter on my chin, cheekbones, bridge of nose and middle of forehead and I love how it makes my skin glow. As you can see from the picture, when it’s on my face it just makes my skin glow and isn’t an obvious gold shimmer or anything, it has a natural, pretty look.

  1. Gentle Face Cleanser – BeFine Food Skin Care. Regular price: $7.05

BeFine’s formulas are completely vegan and packed with good-for-your skin superfoods and natural ingredients. Creamy coconut oil moisturizes, while tea tree and orange extract detox and balance out oil production. Jojoba beads buff away dead skin cells, leaving your skin glowing. This face wash has an awesome minty scent that makes my face feel extra fresh, it’s like brushing my teeth for my face haha.

  1. Rose Gold Blush Face Brush 514 – Luxie. Regular price: $18.00

Imitate the perfect glow on your cheeks with this Luxie blush brush. Made with cruelty-free synthetic bristles, this vegan brush achieves beauty inside and out. Fake a healthy flush with this must-have product in your beauty arsenal. This brush is super soft, it works good for highlighter and blush, only products that can be lightly dusted on. This definitely isn’t tough enough to use for powder or contour. It works great for my BellaPierre powder highlighter and Urban Decay blush.

This is just a classic denim with neon edging makeup bag, it’s kind of retro. Who knows what I’ll do with this, or the 500 other ipsy makeup bags I have, lol.

The products in the month’s box are worth $75.05! That’s more than 7x the $10.00/month cost of ipsy, so I’d say that’s an awesome value! Besides the lipstick, I’ll use everything in this month’s bag! I love the mascara and refreshing facewash. The illuminator works so good and gives such a cool, natural glow. The Luxie brush is perfect for dusting on loose powders… man I love ipsy! By far the best beauty subscription for the price.
